Doncaster Transport and Infrastructure Forum

Transport and Infrastructure

Shape the Future of Doncaster’s Infrastructure

We are inviting business leaders and sector specialists to join a new, high-impact advisory group: the Doncaster Transport and Infrastructure Forum.

Coordinated by Doncaster Chamber in partnership with Doncaster Council, this forum will bring together expert voices from across the private, public and voluntary sectors to shape Doncaster’s infrastructure priorities — and to champion the major investments our city needs to grow, connect, and compete.

About the Forum

The Transport and Infrastructure Forum exists to provide strategic insight and advocacy, ensuring Doncaster’s infrastructure plans are driven by the needs of the business community.

By engaging with regional and national decision-makers, the Forum will help unlock investment in transport and infrastructure projects that support economic growth, regeneration, connectivity, and sustainability.

Forum Objectives

  • Advocate for investment in Doncaster’s strategic infrastructure – including roads, rail, aviation, active travel and digital connectivity.

  • Provide a formal mechanism for private sector input into infrastructure strategies and business cases.

  • Identify projects that can unlock inclusive growth, attract investment and support environmental goals.

  • Support and scrutinise delivery of major initiatives aligned to the Mayor’s and Council’s priorities.

Key Areas of Focus

  • Reopening and developing Doncaster Sheffield Airport

  • Strengthening regional and national connectivity

  • Integrated planning that meets the needs of businesses and communities

  • Evidence-based lobbying to South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) and Government

  • Supporting progress on Doncaster’35, the City Centre Strategy and the AI Growth Zone

Who Should Join?

We are looking for committed and knowledgeable representatives from:

  • Transport and logistics (rail, aviation, highways, buses)

  • Infrastructure, planning and development

  • Key growth sectors, town and city centres, SME networks

  • Education and voluntary sectors, where transport impacts inclusion

Membership is reviewed annually to ensure diverse and representative input. Subject matter experts may be invited on a rolling basis.

How it Works

  • Quarterly meetings, with additional sessions as needed

  • Chaired by a senior business leader, with secretariat support from Doncaster Chamber

  • Meetings coordinated jointly with Doncaster Council

  • Papers circulated five working days in advance
