Doncaster Chamber Welcomes Approval of Football Academy Development in Bawtry

Doncaster Chamber has welcomed Doncaster Council Planning Committee's decision to approve plans for the Doncaster Elite Football Academy - a new Football Academy development in Bawtry.

The decision, approved on Tuesday 28 July, paves the way for major investment in the borough and marks another significant step forward for Doncaster, as it continues to build momentum through transformative projects, including the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Gateway One, and now Bawtry’s Football Academy.

Having voiced its support for the development including speaking at the Planning Committee in support of the proposal – the Chamber believes the decision sends a positive message to investors that Doncaster remains ambitious, entrepreneurial and open for business.

The academy is expected to create more than 200 jobs during the construction phase and over 50 permanent local skilled jobs once operational. Alongside its economic impact and the partnerships that will be enjoyed between the development and some of Europe’s most high-profile football clubs, the development has the potential to create new pathways for young people through sport, education and skills development.
