Doncaster Sheffield Airport
The Doncaster Chamber is proud to lead an ongoing campaign to secure the reopening of Doncaster Sheffield Airport. From the outset, we have worked tirelessly to keep pressure high and ensure the voices of our business community are heard by those with the power to act.
Through key events such as the Doncaster Business Conference and dedicated MP Roundtables, we have created direct channels for businesses to influence decision‑makers. Alongside this, we have consistently lobbied Doncaster Council to prioritise investment in areas that support a swift and sustainable reopening of DSA.
Our efforts extend to writing to local and national leaders, urging them to commit to the actions needed to move the airport forward. Working closely with South Yorkshire business leaders, we have contributed to a coordinated lobbying effort that highlights the significant economic case for reopening—most notably the 5,000 direct jobs and 6,500 indirect jobs the airport supports.
Maintaining public focus has been equally important. Through regular media engagement across national, regional and local outlets, we’ve ensured the campaign remains prominent and the pressure unrelenting.
Beyond lobbying for reopening, the Chamber is helping prepare the region for the economic growth DSA will bring. We are addressing two major challenges head‑on: skills and infrastructure. Our Local Skills Improvement Plan targets aviation and deep‑tech capabilities to ensure a future‑ready workforce. At the same time, we are lobbying for vital upgrades to Junction 3 of the M18, improving key access routes to support efficient passenger and freight movement.
The Chamber remains fully committed to championing DSA and securing long‑term prosperity for our region.
