Doncaster Business Dinner: 'The Boeing Effect'

Doncaster Chamber are pleased to exclusively welcome Adrian Allen OBE, co-founder of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) to speak at our first Doncaster Business Dinner on the 2nd May.
Adrian Allen was born in South Yorkshire, and spent decades in the advanced tools and aerospace industries. As sales director at Sheffield tooling company Technicut, Adrian worked with Professor Keith Ridgway to forge new links between Boeing and the University of Sheffield, culminating in the launch of the AMRC in 2001. Adrian was awarded an OBE in 2010 for services to industry.
Adrian Allen's involvement meant in 2017 Boeing opened their first manufacturing facility in Europe alongisde the AMRC enabling the company to bring the manufacture of key high-tech actuation components and systems used in Boeing's Next-Generation 737, 737 MAX and 777 aircraft in-house, enhancing production efficiency and reducing costs.
Adrian Allen, Executive Director of the AMRC, said:
“Keith and I set out to create a radical, unique collaborative research environment; one that would quickly grow and become a catalyst for attracting a pool of skilled talent, technology and inward investment. This would be the critical success factor in achieving the vision we had, to become the world’s foremost innovation district.”
In the past 16 years, the University of Sheffield’s AMRC has grown to include over 90 industrial partners from sectors such as aerospace, medical, automotive and construction and has become a model world-wide in how to conduct collaborative research to develop new manufacturing techniques and technologies. The AMRC and its partners are now a central offer for the Sheffield City Region’s Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District.

All event bookings must be paid in full prior to attending.
All events are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Doncaster Chamber reserves the right to cancel any event without notice and without reason, therefore any monies paid will be refunded in full.
Waiting List – please note that all events have a maximum capacity. Once this is reached you can still register and be entered onto a waiting list. If we have any cancellations these spaces will automatically be allocated to the waiting list in order of booking.
No show policy – please note that we now operate a no-show policy. If a member does not attend two events in succession without notifying the Chamber, they will not be permitted to book onto an event for the next 30 days. Please always try to let us know if you cannot attend an event so that we can allocate your space to another member on the waiting list.
