An EOB a business that offers a meaningful stake and a say for all employees. It will have more than 25% of the business has to be in the hands of employees and representation of employee voice in the operational and strategic direction of the business. This option is perfect for businesses that:
- The founder/CEO does not have a clear succession plan in place.
- Have over 10 employees.
- Are most commonly in the IT, Manufacturing, HR, Care or Retail sector.
- Financially sound.
- Have a clear understanding from founder on the why they want to exit and what next for them.
- Clear understanding of benefits and impacts of involvement of employees.
A Worker Co-Operative
A Worker Co-Operative is when employees are given a significant stake and a meaningful say in the company. This could be in 3 ways:
- Direct employee ownership – Employees buy or are gifted shares.
- Indirect employee ownership – Shares in trust.
- Hybrid – Has majority indirect employee ownership and some founder and/or family ownership/plus other individual share ownership.
