Andy Hibbitt, Chief Operating Officer at Doncaster Chamber said:
“Young people should be educated, informed and inspired by the wide range of career opportunities open to them and have a clear understanding about the pathways into those careers. Through Doncaster Careers Week and Opportunities Doncaster LIVE, we can help them understand the choices that are open to them. The ‘Introduction to’ events cover a range of Doncaster’s key employment sectors and are a valuable opportunity for anyone with an interest to work in these areas to book their place and find out about potential career paths.
“This not only benefits them, but also employers across the borough who rely on having access to talented people with the right skills. It’s the perfect chance for employers to engage with potential applicants, to talk about apprenticeships, vacancies, training schemes or work placements and also sign up to the Doncaster Promise.”
Councillor Nuala Fennelly, Doncaster Council Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools, said:
“It is incredibly important that we provide our young people with opportunities to discover the wealth of career pathways available in Doncaster and beyond. The Opportunities Doncaster LIVE event will allow young people to meet Doncaster employers face-to-face and help them plan ahead for their education and training, whilst inspiring them to reach their aspirations.”
Paul Sutherland, CEO of Mech FS explains why they wanted to get involved as the headline sponsor for Opportunities Doncaster LIVE:
“The future construction model is changing and only by embracing the enthusiasm and determination of young people will Mech FS be ready. Being an old Hatfield High student I think, thanks to the Council and the chamber, we can provide the pathway for the next generation.
“As a local company we know just how important it is to have employees with the right skills for our business. By sponsoring Opportunities Doncaster LIVE we’re taking that one step further and linking with Doncaster schools and students, our workforce of tomorrow - we want to inspire them to help make the most of their future career opportunities.“Places on the ‘Introduction to’ events are limited and can be booked through the Opportunities Doncaster website: www.opportunitiesdoncaster.co.uk/doncaster-careers-week
