The Big Switch On: Magna’s AQUA-TEK re-opens for summerMay 21, 2019Magna will signal the start of the summer months when it re-opens the popular AQUA-TEK outdoor splash park this half term.
Children of all ages can create a splash with the range of water-based activities AQUA-TEK offers, including hidden spray, mist and jets of water. But be warned… you’ll get very, very wet!
AQUA-TEK will re-open for summer 2019 on Saturday 25th May and is included in entry to Magna Science Adventure Centre, or FREE to all Magna Annual Pass holders.
In addition, visitors will be able to explore the SCI-TEK adventure play area, which features trampoline nets, spinning bowls, tilted roundabouts, twisted slides as well as rockets and castles. The centre piece of the playground is a Giant Orion Trampoline Net where children can learn about weight, velocity, action and reaction.
If the sun doesn’t shine, a wide range of indoor workshops and steel tours will also run throughout the half term holiday.
Stuart Ballard, Education Manager at Magna, said: “AQUA-TEK is a real favourite with the younger visitors. Children love to go wild and the added attraction of getting wet makes it even more appealing. Our SCI-TEK play area also presents a perfect opportunity for the kids to have a blast, while learning and becoming more interested in the world of science – although they don’t always realise it.”
Throughout the holidays, families can go on a guided tour with an ex-steel worker and find out about the history and heritage of the old Templeborough steelworks. Or they can watch a forge demonstration to see a blacksmith at work and learn how steel was made. Visitors can also get excited by Magna’s Rocket Show, where they will find out more about homemade rockets and how they work.
Stuart said: “We can’t always rely on the weather being fine, so it’s great that we’re also able to run several indoor activities too. Our tours and demonstrations are fit for all the family, including our Rocket Show, which will see rockets filled with fuel, fizz, water or air, all set off with a whoosh!”
Magna, which is housed in the former Templeborough steelworks, has more than 100 hands-on exhibits designed to explore the four elements of air, water, earth and fire.
