Open house to mark World Cancer Day 2019January 20, 2019Alder Tree Therapy House are offering an open house to mark World Cancer Day 2019 on Sunday 3 February 2019, 11am-3pm.
The Cancer Awareness And Support Open day is inviting local charities and support services to provide information stalls, and volunteers will be on hand to answer any questions or advice. Charities include Eve's Merton Trust, Doncaster Cancer Support Drop in, Aurora, Firefly and St John's.
Therapists have also generously donated their time to offer advice and information on the therapies they provide. Taster sessions are available throughout the day including Reiki, Mindfulness and Meditation workshops and a workshop on adjusting to life after treatment.
Claire Lyon from Creation station will also be offering an arts table. This mirrors a service she is involved with at the Aurora Centre, where people can relax with a cuppa and crafts whilst accessing a friendly chat and support if required.
Owner Sal Lawton who is organising the event is doing it as a way of raising awareness but also to provide support to those touched by Cancer. In 2017 Sal received treatment for breast cancer and after receiving so much valuable support wanted to share what is available with local people to try and make the difficult experience a little easier. Now fighting fit Sal says it means a lot to give something back.
