CEO Sleepout challenges Doncaster's big-hearted business leadersApril 09, 2019CEO Sleepout is challenging bosses from businesses across Doncaster to swap their warm beds for a night sleeping out to raise money and make a stand against homelessness.
CEO Sleepout Doncaster will see dozens of business leaders and execs braving cold temperatures on the night of 20 May to sleep rough and raise thousands of pounds to support charities fighting homelessness and poverty across Doncaster.
Funds will be distributed between the Real Help Doncaster alternative giving campaign jointly spearheaded by the Doncaster Council and Changing Lives, as well as the Club Doncaster Foundation and CEO Sleepout charity.
The CEO Sleepouts began six years ago, the brainchild of Teesside businessman and philanthropist, Andy Preston. The events have generated a staggering £2 million to date, supporting charities and causes that work hard to tackle poverty and homelessness in cities across the UK.
The CEO Sleepout charity was officially formed in December 2014 after two successful CEO Sleepout events which were held at Middlesbrough FC and Newcastle Utd FC in collaboration with Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.
Since then, CEO Sleepout events have been held at venues across the country including Wembley Stadium, St James’ Park Newcastle, Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Meadow Lane Stadium, and Lord’s Cricket Ground and have to-date raised a phenomenal £2 million pounds.
Club Doncaster CEO, Gavin Baldwin said: “This is a really important event and we’re hoping the entire business community of Doncaster get’s behind the initiative to help raise money for brilliant charities.”
Stefan Rodgers, Commercial Director, Doncaster Chamber said: “Doncaster Chamber are long term supporters of Real Help, partnering charities and members of the public and private sectors who are collaboratively working to make positive change to the issue of homelessness across the borough. The CEO Sleepout is just one of the ways we can continue to raise awareness and support people with complex lives.”
CEO Sleepout’s CEO, Bianca Robinson, said: “We are very grateful for the many busy individuals who give up their time to take part in our fundraising events across the country and want to challenge business people across Doncaster to show compassionate leadership on these issues and get involved.
“Sleeping out for one night doesn’t come close to the reality of being homeless and hungry and we acknowledge that. But our participants are raising funds, awareness and giving up their warm bed to help others - and that’s a great thing! We’re inviting CEOs, senior level staff and their teams to take part in what is sure to be a memorable and rewarding night.
Andy Preston, Chairman and Founder of CEO Sleepout, said: “I am very humbled to see so many business leaders take part in out CEO Sleepout events across the country and I am sure that Doncaster will demonstrate what a compassionate town it is.
CEO Sleepout events help to raise significant funds for a number of really worthwhile charities and I hope we’re able to raise a phenomenal amount in Doncaster’s very first CEO Sleepout.”
