Twenty homeless people housed over Christmas period in DoncasterJanuary 11, 2019As a result of co-ordinated work to support homeless people into accommodation and provide additional support, over twenty homeless people were helped into accommodation during the Christmas period.
The Complex Lives Alliance that includes St Leger Homes, Doncaster Council, Riverside Care & Support, Target Housing, Doncaster Foyer, Ongo and others has made sure that extra capacity and ongoing support is available over the winter months.
The work the partnership has done has meant that there was a bed and support available for anyone sleeping rough in Doncaster and also meant that no homeless families had to spend Christmas in B&B.
Of the twenty people accommodated, 13 are still in accommodation and engaging with Home Options and Complex Lives staff (who have been working throughout the Christmas period).
Paul Tanney, Chief Executive of St Leger Homes, said: “We have a very clear objective to support vulnerable homeless people in this situation and I am very pleased that we have been able to provide this help over the Christmas period, and our aim is to continue this work. I would like to thank all the staff who have worked hard over the Christmas and New Year period to help people in very difficult circumstances.”
