• How prepared is your business for the EU Exit?

    The latest Doncaster Business Survey is now open for local firms to have their say.

    With just over four months to go until the end of the Brexit transition period, Doncaster Chamber is asking firms how prepared they think their business, local and national Government is for the EU Exit.

    Firms are also being asked about what support they might need to address any challenges or opportunities as a result of Brexit.

    These are just two of the questions covered in the latest Doncaster Business Insight Survey, run by the Chamber is association with Doncaster Council’s inward investment team and sponsored by ProAktive.

    Local businesses of all sizes and sectors are invited to take the survey to provide an insight into current business sentiment. Feedback will enable Doncaster Chamber to better represent Doncaster businesses, and through the Chamber network, lobby government on their behalf.

    Adrian Platts, International Trade Manager at Doncaster Chamber said:

    “Preparation for Brexit has ramped up over the past 18 months, though has been overshadowed by COVID-19 in recent months. As time is pressing on, the end of the transition period is just over four short months away.

    “Brexit is very much a moving feast with negotiations still ongoing with the EU and still no firm agreement around our future trading relationship. It is therefore imperative that businesses have the required measures in place to ensure business continuity at this crucial point.

    “As we sail our present course, there is still a significant risk of a no deal situation where some businesses could be left in a catastrophic situation and clamouring for support at the last minute, which may not be realised in time ensure the short term, or indeed long term, survival of those businesses.

    “It is therefore important that business reflect upon their current circumstances and feed in to this survey in order for us to really drive the immediate key issues at this late stage to ensure their voice is heard and they get the required appropriate support going in to 2021.”

    The quarterly survey forms part of the national Quarterly Economic Survey carried out by the British Chambers of Commerce and the results, combined with other regional Chambers’ feedback, are used to shape local, regional and national policies.

    The survey is open for three weeks until 14 September. For every survey submitted this quarter by a Doncaster-based business, £1 will be donated to the South Yorkshire Housing Association to help them provide homes and support across the region.
