A popular awards ceremony with a difference is returning to the Sheffield City Region and Doncaster-based entrepreneurs are being given the chance to follow in the footsteps of digital marketing agency Loud Crowd which was named as Growth business of the year during the 2018 inaugural celebrations.
Showcasing and celebrating the achievements of new and aspiring entrepreneurs, the Sheffield City Region Launchpad Awards recognise the important role small businesses play in contributing to and shaping the local economy and with seven different awards up for grabs, there has never been a better time to get involved.
This year’s awards will recognise both pre-starts and businesses that have engaged with the Launchpad programme, which is delivered in Doncaster by Doncaster Chamber; the categories include:
    • Aspiring Entrepreneur
    • Growth Business – Sponsored by Finance For Enterprise
    • Inspiring Achiever
    • Made in the Sheffield City Region
    • Rising Star
    • Start Up Business of the Year – Sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses
    • Young Entrepreneur
Each winner will also be given the chance to be crowned as the overall 2019 Launchpad Champion, who will be chosen by those attending the special awards evening which takes place in September.
The evening proved to be a particularly memorable one for two Doncaster-based businesses: Digital Marketing Agency Loud Crowd was awarded the title of Growth Business of the Year, whilst Conisbrough-based pet shop owner Andrew became the only person to secure a double award win, not only securing the overall title of Launchpad Champion, but also the Inspiring Achiever award.
Digital Marketing Agency Loud Crowd was founded by David Johnson in 2017 who launched the company with a vision to help businesses access the vital social media, marketing and IT support to help companies throughout the UK to target new customers. Working within a competitive marketplace, within just sixteen months, the company has employed four full-time members of staff, created two part-time roles as well as planning to recruit an apprentice into the business.
Launchpad programme manager Anna Smith said:
“The Launchpad Awards are a truly unique celebration of entrepreneurship and recognise some of the region’s most promising and talented new entrepreneurs who have taken the very first steps towards running their own business, to growing businesses which have enjoyed success over the past three years. There are plenty of different opportunities to get involved with this year’s event.
“Since the Launchpad programme began in 2016 it has helped more than 5,000 would be entrepreneurs take the first steps on their business journey and our awards event recognises the many hours of blood, sweat and tears that go into building and developing a business. The awards evening itself is far from the usual black tie affair, but offers a chance for new and aspiring business owners to come together, meet like-minded individuals and celebrate the amazing achievements of some truly inspiring individuals.”
The closing date for applications has been extended to Friday 26th July, with the awards ceremony taking place on Friday 27th September. For more information and to apply, visit: https://scrlaunchpad.co.uk/awards.
