Doncaster Director Wins National Sailing ChampionshipAugust 19, 2019Local Doncaster business, Pacy & Wheatley, are delighted to announce that their Director, Craig Wheatley, has won the Allen, North Sails and Selden Enterprise National Championships. This win was alongside his sailing partner, Paul Hobson, Director of North Sails.
The Enterprise National Championships is a four-day sailing race held in Mount’s Bay, Cornwall, taking place between 3 – 6 August.
Winning the Championship is a huge achievement for Craig and Paul, who faced incredibly bad weather conditions. A yellow wind warning was looming over Cornwall and, consequently, the much-anticipated Boardmasters festival was cancelled.
After winning four out of ten races, Craig and Paul were crowned National Championship winners and presented with a total of seven trophies! One of these trophies was the Betty Southword Trophy, which Craig won for winning first place with a crew over 40 years’ old.
This win was a huge milestone for Paul, as he was the only person ever to have won Championship week as both a helm and a crew! He was also awarded with the Admiral’s Trophy for winning first place with a helm over 50 years of age.
Celebrations were in order for such a fantastic win, and a night of dancing in the boathouse also helped raise several hundred pounds for the RNLI.
Friends, family and team members were overjoyed with this result, and the two local business Directors are incredibly proud to represent their hometown at such a prestigious competition!
