• Doncaster Chamber and Business in the Community support local foodbanks

Working in partnership Doncaster Chamber and Business in the Community (BITC) has played a key role in the donation of 35 pallets full of food to Doncaster foodbanks, managed by Food Aware CIC.

The free delivery weighed in at over 8 tonnes, including cereal and chocolate generously donated by Nestle.

Through their network of professional links across Doncaster and beyond, the Chamber were quickly able to bring together suppliers and foodchains to get the supplies to where they were needed most.

Jade Dyer, Assistant Director of Services at Doncaster Chamber, explains:
“For me this really encapsulates what we do so well at the Chamber - we connect people! Whether a charity such as Food Aware, who through our connection with BITC were able to help over 30 other community organisations or a business big or small who needs to make a connection, we do our best to make sure you can speak to the right people to achieve great things.

“It is a privilege to be able to play a part in something so beneficial to our communities in Doncaster and on behalf of Doncaster Chamber I would like to say a BIG thank you to all of the business heroes who were involved!”

Carolynn McConnell at Business Connector Sheffield, said:
“We were offered just one drop in Yorkshire and through collaboration between Sheffield Business Together and the Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley Chambers we made it happen with 22 Sheffield charities benefiting and over 30 community organisations in Doncaster. “We also need to give a big thank you to Food Works in Sheffield, Food Aware in Doncaster and their partners Strada Trading and J. P Walton for helping with the off-loading, transport, distribution and storage. Amazing team effort.”

Cllr Sean Gibbons, Doncaster Council, added:
“It is fantastic to be working in close partnership with Doncaster Chamber and Business in the Community collaborating with local businesses to help get surplus food supplies distributed to foodbanks and community projects supporting their local communities throughout these challenging times. This 35 pallet donation from Nestle has already assisted over 30 community organisations alongside our surplus food partners, Food Works Sheffield, supported by JP Walton and Sons Transport and Strata Trading.”
