Carers Week 2019June 11, 2019Monday 10th June marks the beginning of Carers Week 2019. The theme this year is Getting Carers Connected, ensuring that carers of all ages are connected to the support networks and resources on offer.
A carer is someone of any age who supports a relative, partner, friend, or neighbour who due to physical or mental illness, disability, frailty, or addiction could not manage without that support. Doncaster Council and all of our partners are committed to providing help and support for carers in their daily lives.
Throughout Carers Week we will be delivering a series of events across the borough for local people who provide care for others to find out more about support networks and resources available to them. These include coffee mornings, afternoon teas, creative art workshops, as well as informal drop-ins to access information, advice, and guidance. All these events, as well as further information about support for carers of all ages, can be found on our website at www.doncaster.gov.uk/carersweek.
Councillor Rachael Blake, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care, said: “Carers provide a huge amount of support to health and social care services in this country. There are around 33,000 carers in Doncaster, people who are often balancing these commitments with work, study, and their own health and wellbeing. We would like to say thank you to carers of all ages and want you to know that we can help with advice, support, and services – please do get in touch.”
