Can you host a workplace visit?January 27, 2020Doncaster Stories, part of the National Literacy Trust, have a fully funded employability programme they’re delivering in Doncaster. It’s called Words for Work: Dream Big and is a primary programme aimed at Year 1 pupils (aged 5-7) from schools in areas that are vulnerable to low literacy. The programme develops literacy skills, raises aspirations and challenges gender stereotypes. A big part of this is offering pupils an opportunity to visit a local business to give them an insight into the workplace.
Would you be willing/able to host a 1.5 hour visit supported by 5-10 volunteers from your office. We would need a meeting room to seat the 30 children too if you have one that size. A dedicated National Literacy Trust Project Manager will lead the session and give a 30 minute training session for the volunteers on the day too. The training will cover the structure of the session, safeguarding and tips for working with children.
1 hour 15 minutes children at visit which comprises of:
