Doncaster Council is pleased to announce that the first stage of content for the new digital platform around Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) in Doncaster – ‘Start Doncaster’ – has gone live.
Business people, education leaders, teachers, career leads and parents can find out more about the platform at a special launch event, in conjunction with Opportunities Doncaster, on Tuesday 16 July 2019 from 17:30 to 20:00, at the Hilton Garden Inn, DN2 6BB.
Keynote speakers and panellists will share an insight into the new partnership working taking place across the borough to support young people in their careers.
Start Doncaster is a new online careers platform that will improve the digital connectivity between the region’s schools, colleges and employers. Event attendees will get to view and navigate the new careers platform and hear more about further developments being planned.
Start Doncaster has been working closely with other partners to develop this new all-age digital careers information, advice and guidance platform that is tailored to the needs of Doncaster’s communities and employment market.
One section featured on the Start Doncaster website is the ‘World of Work’ where businesses can promote their organisation, industry and opportunities for individuals who are looking to work in a certain profession or sector to find out more and pursue their careers interests.
One of the partners, Opportunities Doncaster, will also officially launch at the special event. The new and exciting organisation, co-created by Doncaster Chamber and Doncaster Council, is working to bring business and education together. The team already has experience of working with schools, businesses and young people, to deliver a range of skills-related activities in schools, industry visits, careers fairs, work placements and an employer kite-mark for young people to know the best places to work in Doncaster. Businesses are encouraged to get involved to help prepare their future workforce.
The Council’s ‘Advance’ Programme will also showcase their work that helps adults to thrive in their chosen career. This is an exciting free programme that offers bespoke careers and education information, advice and guidance to both individuals wanting to progress in their careers and employers wanting to develop and support their workforce.
