Welcome to Yorkshire has confirmed 10 exclusive announcements will be made at this year’s tourism showcase Y19 – to mark the organisation’s 10th anniversary.

The stage show takes place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds in just under a month’s time - on Wednesday April 3rd, 10 years to the day since the tourism body was formed in 2009.

Announcements on the day will include an update on the economic impact of tourism in Yorkshire; exclusive details from Yorkshire Sculpture International – the UK’s biggest sculpture festival; confirmation of a number of important new partnerships; big news for the food and drink scene in Yorkshire and exclusive information from both the Tour de Yorkshire and the UCI Road World Championships.
The event, which is the largest onstage celebration of tourism in the UK, will also see performances from top Yorkshire entertainment and appearances from Yorkshire sport and screen stars.

Sir Gary Verity DL, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire said:

“Marking our 10th anniversary is an incredibly special occasion. We’ve seen some phenomenal changes in how Yorkshire is perceived over the last decade thanks to some huge global events and a fresh and creative approach to promoting the county. We’ll be looking back at just how much Yorkshire has grown in profile but also looking forward with some really big announcements about how Welcome to Yorkshire will continue promoting the county, helping it remain a number one destination for tourism and business.”

LNER have been confirmed as the Official Conference Sponsor and hope to update us on the exciting news regarding their new Azuma high-speed trains.

David Horne, Managing Director of LNER, said:
“We’ve worked closely with Welcome to Yorkshire to promote the region over the last few years, so I’m delighted that we’re helping to celebrate their 10th anniversary. I’m sure the event will once again showcase just how many great experiences Yorkshire offers to visitors from far and wide, including the many who travel by rail to the county each year.”
