Max Taylor lived in Hong Kong and then Shenzhen from 2002 to 2016, where he first worked for export trade publisher Global Sources. He then started and ran several businesses for import/export trade between China, South Africa, Australia and Europe. He has extensive experience in the retail sector with special expertise in the wholesale distribution of wine and other drinks in China, especially in traditional retail and HORECA channels. Since returning to the UK he has worked in export sales to Asia Pacific before joining the China-Britain Business Council. Max studied Politics and East Asian Studies at the University of Newcastle. He is a fluent Mandarin speaker.
