Industry visits offer students an exciting way to gain an insight into the world of work and see first-hand the connections between skills and careers.
What are industry visits?
Industry visits (also known as workplace visits) are where a group of young people visit your organisation. The visits can last from a couple of hours to a full day, and aim to teach young people about the day-to-day workings of a particular industry and understand its operational issues. The visits provide young people with a general overview of the company and wider industry and provide them with guidance on how to gain further experience in the field.
Why should I host an industry visit?
Aside from providing students with an understanding of your industry and the vocational relevant of skills learnt in the classroom, hosting an industry visit through Opportunities Doncaster can raise your profile and support your CSR efforts.
Benefits for students
Visiting real workplaces gives young people an insight into the world of work and shows them the key skills, atittudes and behaviours they need to start a rewarding career journey. It's also a great way for young people to learn about employment sectors which they may not previously have heard of.
