Doncaster Business Awards
Do you have a question about the Doncaster Business Awards? Check our FAQ below. If your question isn't listed, you can always email Rebecca Nightingale.
Am I eligible to enter?
All Doncaster Chamber members and businesses with a DN postcode are eligible to enter.
Can I enter if I am not a Doncaster Chamber member?
Non-members are eligible to enter the awards if their registered business address is Doncaster. There is a £50 +VAT charge per category for non-members to enter which must be paid prior to the closing date for written entries. If no payment is received prior to this date entries will not be submitted for judging.
How does a small business compete with a large business?
In order to support smaller businesses that are likely to have less resources to dedicate to the awards process, a handicap system will be in place. You can find out more information about the handicap system on our judging process page.
What is the judging process?
Each of the 12 awards has five sets of criteria to be scored against that are relevant to that award.
These criteria are to be scored at the written submission stage (stage 1) by the Business Awards Panel (each criteria will be scored out of ten, one being poor, ten being excellent) and then again at the interview stage (stage 2) by the judges (each criteria again scored out of ten).
Further information is available on our judging process page.
Is there any support available when entering?
Doncaster Chamber do not provide individual support for entrants. However, we run workshops on both writing an entry (stage 1) and finalist interviews (stage 2) which can be found on our events page.
What if I am unavailable for the stage 2 judging dates?
Where possible we try to ensure judging is carried out at a time convenient for both judges and entrants.
Due to the coordination of several diaries it is not always possible to reschedule, and we do request on entering that the dates you specify as being available you block out in your diary. We are unable to conduct judging visits outside of the three weeks specified (Monday 21 October – Friday 8 November 2019).
How do I know if I have made it through to the second stage?
You will be contacted by Doncaster Chamber and informed if you have been successful as a finalist and made it through to the 2nd stage of judging.
If I enter do I automatically get tickets?
No companies are automatically granted tickets. Tickets and tables can be purchased directly from the Doncaster Business Awards event page.
