Home -> News List -> Will Your Business Be Affected By The Immigration Cap?
A new permanent limit on the number of non-EU workers entering the United Kingdom will come into effect from April 2011. Through the limits to Tier 1 and Tier 2 immigration, the Government is actively reducing the ability of business to grow the UK out of recession, by depriving them of the competitive advantage offered by the flexibility of the UK’s labour market.
It costs almost six times as much to recruit a skilled worker from outside the EU than taking a local candidate – thus demonstrating a clear need for the imported skills. On this basis, through such restrictions, skills gaps in the local economy will be exposed, as jobs would no longer be given to the most skilled workers. Reduced efficiency and competitiveness would result.
