The IWP Conference 2010

The IWP Conference 2010; Work, Well-being and Performance: New Perspectives for the Modern Workplace, sponsored by Creativesheffield and Business Advantage, is being held from 28th June to 1st July at the St. Paul's Hotel, Sheffield City Centre.

It is hosted by the Institute of Work Psychology, University of Sheffield, a distinctive community of researchers focused on work psychology and related areas, such as organisational behaviour and human resource management. This conference follows our extremely successful event in 2008 which attracted over 250 delegates from 36 different countries. Once again this conference has been publicised worldwide to much initial interest and enthusiasm from both academics and practitioners across a range of disciplines. We anticipate an audience of some 200 - 300 delegates for whom this will be a major showcase for their research and a unique networking opportunity.

Three internationally recognised keynote speakers have been confirmed for the conference: Gary Johns from Concordia University Canada, Ann Marie Ryan from Michigan State University, USA and Arnold Bakker from Erasmus University, Netherlands. In addition we will also have a keynote from Rear Admiral Philip Willcocks, Royal Navy. A series of ten half day workshops will be delivered on Tuesday 29th June at venues in St Paul's Hotel, the Novotel and the University of Sheffield. Topics range from workplace coaching, selecting a positive workforce, organisational stress interventions, diversity, work-life balance, leadership and statistics. These workshops will be a marriage of academic theory and reliable work place practices. The statistics courses include an all day session on Monday 28th June on Structural Equation Modelling (mPlus). On Tuesday 29th June there will be a half day session on Multi-level modelling followed by another half day session on team level statistics by Jeremy Dawson. There will also be a full programme of papers and a poster session. The week kicks off with a follow-up to 2008's very popular Postgraduate and Early Careers Event.
