Thank you to Chamber Members from Platform 51

Platform 51 Doncaster Women’s Centre have extended a huge ‘thank you’ to Chamber Members who raised £2000 at the 2010 Doncaster Chamber Business Awards for the charity.

Nick Birkinshaw of Platform 51, said: “To date, this financial year, we have worked with over 2000 girls and women experiencing issues such as poor self esteem and low aspirations, mental health difficulties, homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, poverty and isolation; some are fleeing domestic violence and we have girls that are experiencing sexual exploitation.

Doncaster continues to experience heavy demand for its services, which keeps resources under constant pressure. Raising funds to maintain existing services and grow in new areas is becoming an increasingly difficult task. We are hugely grateful to the support we receive from Chamber Members collectively and individually. The £2000 is a huge boost to our funds. Additionally we receive regular donations from local businesses, two Chamber members have ‘just giving’ links on their publicity which encourages their customers to make donations to our Project and others give time and resources free of charge.”
