Following the success of the Racing For Change ‘Come Racing For Free’ initiative in 2010, bosses at Doncaster Racecourse made the decision to offer the same opportunity to customers again this year. The racecourse begam promoting the Free Race Day – which falls on the Bank Holiday of the Royal Wedding Day – from early February via the website and social media networks and within four weeks the offer had spread like wild fire.
The only tickets now available at the course for Friday, 29th April are a limited number of County Enclosure upgrades available at £5 per person and a special offer restaurant package at £35 per head in the Mallard Restaurant. Applicatrions for pairs of free tickets for racing at Doncaster on the Royal Wedding Day have been flooding in from all over the country, and records show that approximately 30% of the racing crowd, now at over 20,000, will be travelling to Doncaster from as far away as Scotland, the North East, Liverpool and London.
Mark Spincer, Managing Director at Doncaster said: “We are surpised and delighted at the speed and level of the response from race-goers and look forward to welcoming new customers to Doncaster, which is what the ‘Come Racing For Free’ ethos is all about. It’s a really great way for people to enjoy a day’s racing while celebrating the Royal Wedding, which of course we will have on the screens’ around the course.
I would urge anyone wishing to join us on the day in the County Enclosure or in any of our restaurants to book as soon as possible so that they don’t miss out on what is going to be an amazing day at Doncaster, with close to a St. Leger crowd we are anticipating a St. Leger atmosphere!
The event could also prove valuable to tourism businesses within the Town as a large number of our visitors are going to be travelling from across the Country and may also be planning to stay locally.”
