Premiere of Civic and Cultural Quarter movie

A digital animation of how Doncaster’s new Civic and Cultural Quarter (CCQ) will look has been released today (Monday 24 January).

The short film shows what visitors to the CCQ can expect from the three important first phase developments of this regeneration project led by Doncaster Council and development partner Muse Developments.

The flythrough showcases the range of performing spaces and uses of the new performance venue. It also features the new civic offices including how people will use the one-stop shop for council services and new chamber for council meetings. The final element is Doncaster’s new public square, which is set to be another major attraction for the area.

The movie shows real life people enjoying and benefiting from the new facilities all of which should be built and open by summer 2013.

Peter Davies, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “Watching this movie brings the scheme to life. It shows people interacting with the new performance venue and other developments. It’s a real eye opener.”

Councillor Jonathan Wood, Cabinet Member for Business and Regeneration, said: “Big changes are on their way in Waterdale and thanks to this film people can get inside the new quarter and see how they will benefit from this transformational project. The area should become a destination that attracts visitors and business to the town. This has to be good news for our economy.”

Michael Broadhead project director for Muse Developments, said: “The digital animation brings together a collection of architectural images to demonstrate the Civic Offices and NPV within regenerated surroundings and helps to reveal how it will re-shape Waterdale.”
