Enterprising Doncaster
Enterprising Doncaster, is the primary private-sector led board within Doncaster's governance and local partnership structure. The Board was set up in the summer of 2007 to provide a strategic economic steer for the Borough and over the course of the last four years the Board has undergone a number of changes to ensure it remains fit for purpose and reflects current priorities.
Following a recent review the roles and activities of the Enterprising Doncaster Board have been aligned to Doncaster’s Economic Strategy priorities (approved in February 2011). Within the board there are seven Champions covering themes where Doncaster has identified strengths, opportunities and challenges of which Connectivity is seen as a critical economic enabler and the primary area where Doncaster has a comparative economic advantage over other places.
Champion: Connectivity
Enterprising Doncaster is now looking for an individual that can bring valuable business knowledge, experience and insight of the economic opportunities presented by Doncaster’s excellent road, rail and air connectivity. This will require an understanding of the importance of transformation infrastructure initiatives with the capacity to unlock access to Doncaster’s key economic assets, improve the geographical reach of businesses and provide access to new markets. In order to be effective in this role the private sector champion will need to be informed of changing conditions, understand the issues and be able to articulate the private sector perspective so that they can bring positive influence and help drive local economic growth.
The ideal candidate will be widely respected locally (and regionally) and able to utilise their wealth of knowledge and experience of the relevant sectors, to positively contribute to Doncaster’s future economic prosperity. It is vital that all private sector Board members are able to demonstrate objectivity and have the ability to consider wide ranging economic arguments for the advancement of the Borough. This role presents a real opportunity for a key individual to have direct input into the ongoing development of Doncaster’s economy.
