NDDT’s Big Lunch - Picnic & Fun Day

North Doncaster Development Trust, a local charity, is hosting ‘NDDT’s Big Lunch - Picnic & Fun Day’ in Woodlands on Sunday 5th June 2011.  Bring the family, a frisbee, a tasty picnic and hopefully the sunshine to join the community of Woodlands for lunch!

The Big Lunch is a very simple idea from the Eden Project.  The aim is to get as many of the 61 million people in the UK as possible to have lunch with their neighbours once a year.

Since starting in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place in all kinds of communities and the best part of a million people took part each year. A record number of people right across the country are expected to take part in 2011.

Alan Bell NDDT’s CEO says:

“This national event shares one of our aims, which is to ‘improve quality of life within our communities!’  The Big Lunch offers a great opportunity for neighbours to come together to share good food, good conversation and resources.  NDDT encourage you to join in the fun at this event, however if you can’t make it to Woodlands, why not organise a local event yourself and get to know your neighbours!”

NDDT’s Big Lunch – Picnic & Fun Day will be held on the football field at the Brodsworth Miners Welfare, Woodlands, Doncaster, DN6 7PP between 12noon - 2pm. At 2pm NDDT will also be holding their Micro Grants Award Ceremony.  Local groups who have received a micro grant will be presented with a plaque. Everyone is welcome to join in the whole of the days fun, games and activities.
