Key South Yorkshire organisations become TEAM EXPORT!

13 prominent organisations across South Yorkshire have today launched their joint vision for export success – a series of events called Exporting Essentials. Starting on Monday 18 July and running for 5 days, there will be 15 events held across the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire regions (mostly free of charge) designed specifically for businesses that are looking to export. Each event will highlight how companies can access the very best help our region has to offer.

Laurianne Enos, Partner of Talking Heads®, translation providers and primary organisers of the new festival of events says, “Help is here on your doorstep and businesses can access it straight away – all the organisations involved want to promote how much support there really is. South Yorkshire has the ability to be a major hot spot for export and there’s absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t be. With our fantastic history, worldwide reputation for quality and armed with this essential information - anyone can succeed”.

The organisations involved include all 4 Chambers of Commerce representing the area (Barnsley & Rotherham, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, Doncaster, Sheffield) and local business support groups South Yorkshire International Trade Forum and Creative Sheffield.  Legal and financial assistance will come from the HMRC, HSBC and the law firm, Nabarro. Offering private sector assistance are Talking Heads® (language services), Chamber Skills Solutions (training) and Vivid Creative (marketing and communications) and also presenting will be the Governments’ organisation responsible for promoting international trade – the UKTI.

With such a diverse group of high profile organisations coming together, it clearly demonstrates how important export trade is viewed by the region, and by Central Government.

Lord Green, Minister of State for Trade & Investment says, “Over 99 per cent of the UK’s 4.8 million businesses are SMEs, yet at present, only 20 per cent are exporters. We believe there is scope to increase that figure considerably and that is why UKTI is committed to supporting SMEs in key markets”.
