There is nothing like the first sign of spring or a little romance to lift your spirits and chase away those winter blues! This year why not combine the two with a visit to the picturesque annual Snowdrop spectacular at Hodsock Priory, located near Blyth, North Nottinghamshire.
The 800 acre estate opens for Snowdrops on 5th February until 6th March 2011 and is gearing up for the huge amount of visitors expected to discover the hidden delights of Hodsock Priory at Snowdrop time.
“Hodsock Priory has become a firm favourite for snowdrop visitors and wedding ceremonies and celebrations over the last few years with many couples holding it very dear to their hearts,” commented George Buchanan ninth generation resident and General Manager Hodsock Priory. “They make return visits during Snowdrops each year, particularly around Valentine’s Day, to reminisce as they explore the gardens and enjoy afternoon tea in the Priory.”
For the first time this year anyone wishing to treat a loved one to a particularly special Valentine’s Break can stay at the newly created ‘The Courtyard at Hodsock’ – a stylish development of the old dairy which now hosts ten luxury self catering suites. The special Valentine’s package (available between 12th–14th February) includes one night’s accommodation, a luxury hamper, entry to Snowdrops, afternoon tea and a delicious home cooked breakfast. It’s a great choice to treat someone special or the perfect setting for a romantic Valentine’s Day proposal!
“Hodsock, and its Snowdrops, is an incredibly romantic setting, and even if the budget doesn’t stretch to an overnight stay why not pay us a visit anyway,” said George. “Our vast gardens will allow a little privacy and, when you have meandered through our wonderful snowdrops, you can enjoy morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea at our tea room located in the Priory.”
Families – for those who want to celebrate Valentines’ Day with their little ones - can also enjoy the Snowdrops with a fun treasure trail to keep children of all ages amused and, the chance to enter into a competition to win £100 worth of chocolate courtesy of The Chocolate Kitchen in Retford!
Snowdrops 2011 is open between 5th February and 6th March, 10am – 4pm. Visit www.snowdrops.co.uk for more information.
