Enterprising Doncaster Board Member and Champion

Private Sector Champion & Board Member (Voluntary Opportunity)
Specialist Theme: Visitor Economy and Urban Renewal

Enterprising Doncaster

Enterprising Doncaster is private-sector led board within Doncaster's governance and local partnership structure. The Board was set up in the summer of 2007 to provide a strategic economic steer for the Borough and over the course of the last four years the Board has undergone a number of changes to ensure it remains
fit for purpose and reflects current priorities.

Following a recent review the roles and activities of Enterprising Doncaster have been aligned to Doncaster’s Economic Strategy priorities (approved in February 2011) of which Visitor Economy and Urban Renewal is seen as a key area where Doncaster has a comparative advantage. Within the board there are seven Thematic Champions covering the key areas where Doncaster has identified strengths, opportunities and challenges.

Champion: Visitor Economy and Urban Renewal

Enterprising Doncaster is now looking for an individual that can bring to the Board valuable private sector business knowledge, experience and an insight of the visitor and retail economy. This will require an understanding of the challenges faced by the Doncaster economy and the opportunities presented by assets and transformational urban renewal initiatives. In order to be effective in this role the private sector champion will need to be informed of changing conditions, understand the issues and be able to articulate private sector perspectives so that they can bring positive influence and help drive local economic growth.

The ideal candidate will be widely respected locally (and regionally) and able to utilise their wealth of knowledge and experience of the relevant sectors, to positively contribute to Doncaster’s future economic prosperity. It is vital that all private sector Board members are able to demonstrate objectivity and have the ability to consider wide ranging economic arguments for the advancement of the Borough. This role presents a real opportunity for a key individual to have direct input into the ongoing development of Doncaster’s economy.
