Doncaster Schools Rowing Association Summer BBQ

Doncaster Schools Rowing Association Summer BBQ 17th June 2011

Just a note to let everyone know about DSRA summer BBQ. 17th June 5.30pm until late. The Boat House, Hexthorpe Park, Doncaster.

DSRA are hosting a Summer BBQ fundraiser for the juniors to help get them to regattas around the country and also to raise awareness of a Splash and Dash Regatta we are putting on the Lakeside Lake on 24th July (the day after the dragon boat race).

This is a national regatta with full British Rowing status but aimed specifially at juniors. So please pack a picnic, the sun cream and the umbrella and come and cheer for Doncaster Schools.  First boats on the water 9.30 am.

But we also allow juniors to compete in Doncaster Rowing Club adult regatta.  Here are Saad, Henry, Jack, Joe and Ben (cox) celebrating a home win at the DRC regatta on the 28th May this year in the J13 coxed quad scull.

DSRA is a hotbed of Rowing ability and is open to any child age 11 upwards. Most of the kids have only been rowing a few months before their ability is spotted. Matty Lofthouse has now joined the Olympic training programme at Leander Club and Dan Fisher and Luke Maxfield have been selected for the World Class Starts programme coached by Steve Gunn ex Olympic GB coach. This is for younger potential Olympians.

Everyone is welcome to come and meet us and see what goes off at a rowing club at our BBQ event. We will have food and drink and a demonstration by the juniors. Any child over the age of 11 fancying a go in a boat then please bring some shorts and a T-shirt (we have changing facilities). Parents need to sign British Rowing Consent forms on the night or print one off the website.
