Doncaster Free Press & Hallam FM join forces with Doncaster Racecourse for family fun day

The Summer Sunday meeting this weekend (June 13) at Doncaster is the annual Family Fun Day at Town Moor, with an even bigger range of attractions for young racegoers for 2010. As always, accompanied children under 18 years of age are admitted free of charge (under 18’s must be accompanied at all times).

As part of the fun for all the family, the day will kick off with a Mega Mascot race, come and see the antics as over 20 Mascots from around the region battle it out along the final furlong in aid of the Cash For Kids charity supported on the day by South Yorkshire’s Hallam FM radio station. 

Children will love the entertainment and so will the adults as it’s all free!  The Family Enclosure is going to be the place to be to see two interactive mini petting farms featuring a full range of farmyard animals to see and learn about. With face-painting, a bouncy castle, Patsy’s Fun Show, along with an animal-themed fancy dress competition for the little ones with prizes to be won.

The big kids among you can also try their luck on the Rodeo Bull! 

A steel band will provide the musical entertainment and for the equestrian fans there are Lawn Polo displays taking place throughout the afternoon between races on the Clock Tower lawn and Pony Racing after the final race.

The racing action is set to begin at 2-20 p.m. and the programme is supported by regular sponsors, the Crown Hotel Bawtry, Polypipe and Doncaster Free Press, while the feature race is a handicap contest for sprinters over six furlongs, The Big John At Breakfast Stakes, supported by Hallam FM.

The giant screen, situated opposite the main stands will enable racegoers to see all of the action as it happens and to of course a shuttle bus service will be in operation from Doncaster Interchange at the railway station (£2 return).

Don’t forget you can now book tickets to see leading ‘Brit’ pop band, ‘Scouting For Girls’ playing live on stage after racing on the new Saturday meeting, August 14 and of course our we have a series of race meetings during June and July, June 25th & 26th is our Football and Fun Day and we have a great offer in July for the Thursday Evening meetings. 

TFI July (Thursday’s Free in July) book any one of the following dates in advance and choose another July Thursday on us, valid on Thursday, July 8th, 15th and 22nd evening meetings. 

Tickets for the 2010 St. Leger Festival – Wednesday, 8th September to Saturday, 11th September are on sale, book soon to ensure that you can spend the 2010 St. Leger Festival experience in the enclosure of your choice.
