FIRST, South Yorkshire’s biggest bus operator, is launching two new bus routes between Doncaster and Scawsby/Sprotbrough in a bid to grow the number of passengers using its services.
From Monday May 9th, First will begin to run new ‘Doncaster Dart’ services – Service 41 Doncaster to Scawsby and Service 49 Doncaster to Sprotbrough. Customers travelling on these routes will benefit from a number of special ticket price promotions, including a maximum £1 single fare.
Staff are busy promoting the new routes and will be in and around Doncaster all week giving away promotional chocolate ‘buses’ to customers.
The move has been welcomed by Doncaster Chamber Chief Executive Howard Gannaway, who believes the new routes will help stimulate economic growth in Doncaster.
The new routes will be served by five Optare Solo buses, all low floor for easy access and complete with CCTV cameras to ensure passengers can travel in safety and comfort.
Brandon Jones, Commercial Director for First in South Yorkshire, said: “First is launching two new exciting services in Doncaster, a move which will benefit bus passengers travelling between town and Scawsby and Sprotbrough.
FROM FIRST Tuesday May 3rd 2011
“We are keen to provide a more direct bus service that will improve transport links between these areas and therefore grow passenger numbers on our buses.
“Our staff are busy preparing for the new services and will be out and about over the next few weeks to meet with our customers and to give chocolate buses away as a thank you for their loyal support. Customers will also benefit from a number of special ticket price promotions as part of the launch of these new services.”
Howard Gannaway, Chief Executive of Doncaster Chamber, has given a big thumbs up to the new service. He said:
"I fully support the addition of these new bus routes in Doncaster.
"The transportation of people for work and leisure purposes in Doncaster is one of the key factors in stimulating economic growth and therefore more routes means more people travelling into the town which can only be a good thing for local businesses."
New services 41 and 49 operate frequently Monday to Saturday daytime providing the communities they serve with great value bus travel.
The ticket promotions include:
- £1 maximum single journey fare
- £3 FirstDay Green – a full day’s unlimited travel on any First bus service within Doncaster’s Green Zone (includes services 41 and 49)
- £4.30 FirstDay Doncaster – a full day’s unlimited travel on any First bus in Doncaster
- £16 FirstWeek Doncaster – seven consecutive days unlimited travel on any First bus in Doncaster.
