The French Apprenticeship Programme (FAP) in partnership with Les Compagnons du Devoir commenced in September 2007 with a group of 20 apprentices from the Joinery trade visiting South Yorkshire from Paris through Business & Education South Yorkshire. Since then B&E have continually welcomed groups of French Apprentices on a rolling pattern throughout the year. The FAP, which forms the foundation for the European Exchange Programme, has been extended into many different regions of France, and is currently growing in the UK too. The project provides groups of French Apprentices with opportunities to gain UK work experiences and to share European working practices and culture. Regional business support is essential to the success of this project, and has provided quality experiences in trades such as Plumbing, Joinery, Engineering and Fabricating in South Yorkshire. Another vital component of this programme is the participation of host families across the region to accommodate the Apprentices. These families open up their homes for the duration of the group’s stay, including them in the household as if they were a member of their own family.
The next group of Apprentices visiting the UK through this programme are Bodywork Coach Builders (Placements needed from Feb 20th 2012)
