Aligning to a dream!

A local woman is stretching her wings in the current climate of health service cutbacks.  An ex-hospice graduate nurse and lecturer who worked for ten years at St John’s Hospice and Sheffield University until 2006, Gill was then a telephonic health coach for two and half years with Humana UK. 

Now, as a result of a becoming certified in Florida as a Founder Member and Independent Coach, Speaker and Teacher, Gill’s new business Motive Leadership is partnered with the world famous leadership, business coach and author John Maxwell. As a result of this association Gill can access John Maxwell curricula for group teaching, group and individual coaching as a rich basis for learning and development of professional learners.

Gill attended the workshop in order to integrate her experience as a professional teacher and trainer and a Motivational interviewing coach (MI).  MI, a psychotherapeutic approach to coaching is considered an effective approach for desired change such as changing a sabotaging thought pattern or work life balance.

Gill’s previous experience gives a depth of skill in helping others to understand their needs and motivations in complex and sometimes ethically challenging situations.  These skills are proving to be effective in the world of personal and professional development in a variety of fields including business and especially leadership development.  “People are the common denominator and the greatest asset in everything we do.  “Everything rises or falls on leadership which starts with ourselves," says Gill. "It is a struggle for many leaders to take the time away from working in their practice to working on their growth potential.  Motivational interviewing can help them recognise the root of any personal ambivalence or team reluctance and take action."

A recent joint forum; Gill’s first successful group coaching and learning series was called Mastermind. This was kindly hosted at The Yorkshire bank Financial Solutions Centre and trialled by their managers and other business leaders and members of the Chamber.
