Jazz in the Market – Saturday 23rd May 11- 3
The annual Doncaster Markets Jazz Day takes place On Saturday 23rd May, when Dave Brennan’s Jubilee New Orlean Brass Band and the Jackie Everton Dance Troupe will be bringing the vibrant sights and sounds of the Crescent City to Doncaster Market.  Other attractions will include The Nicola Farnon Quartet (introducing the ‘big fat’ sound of Jim Corry on tenor sax !!) and the irresistible rhythms of young sax and clarinet sensation Amy Roberts’ New Orleans Quartet.  Why not decorate a ‘jazz brolly’ and join in the fun of the parade?

Horrible History Day – Open Market, Saturday 30th May 10 – 3
Horrible Ancient Greek Hoplites will be undertaking drill and informing members of the public about the period.  Vicious Vikings, Mediaeval Mayhem with foot tournaments, dance and childrens quiz.  Japanese Savage Samurai in 16th century costumes, Mediaeval cooking and Mad Monks.

Continental Market – 18th to 21st June 8.30 – 5.30
The return of the hugely popular Continental Market where shoppers are treated to tastes from around the globe.  From Polish beers, German bratwursts, rustic Italian pizzas and olive oils, authentic Spanish paella, French crepes and cheeses, Indian curries, Japanese noodle bar, Greek baklava, rare breed hog roast and Caribbean jerk chicken.
There will also be jewellery, pashminas, marble, Indian clothing, plants, soaps, bonsai, sweets, cakes, nuts, pork pies and coffee beans.

Summer Barbeque Staged Cooking Demonstration with celebrity Chris Walker – front of Fish Market. Saturday 27th June 10 – 3
A seasonal cooking demonstration to celebrate the finest fresh food available in Doncaster Market.  Come and see our professional chefs in action and taste some delicious samples.  The event will be hosted by popular TV celebrity and actor Chris Walker (an accomplished chef himself) who will be on hand throughout the day to answer your questions about cooking and preparing fresh food – and signing the odd autograph if requested!!

Honda Goldwing Gala – Saturday 11th July, Open Market, 10.30 – 3.00
Big bike riders will be showing off their fabulous machines when they ride into Doncaster Open Market.  There will also be a DJ and music, face painter and metallic robot stiltwalker.

Doncaster Live Warm Up – Saturday 25th July
Pubs and clubs in the town centre will be hosting music events on the run up to tomorrows DONCASTER LIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL.  There will also be some live entertainment on the streets through town.

DONCASTER LIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL – Sunday 26th July -  12 noon – 9.30 pm.
This is the BIG ONE.  A full day of live music on a huge stage in the Doncaster Open Market, with food, drink, a fun fair and a host of signed bands entertaining the crowds throughout the day.  Not only is this event one of the biggest in the area it is also FREE.  Bands are yet to be confirmed but it will be even bigger and better than the great successes of the past 3 years when bands such as the Levellers, Blue Tones, Wedding Present, Little Man Tate, Elliot Minor, Tiny Dancers etc. have played on the main stage and thoroughly wowed the audience.  Details of this years bands will be released at the beginning of June.  A fantastic free day out for music fans of all ages – come along and be entertained.

La Dolce Vita Italian Market – Clock Corner area – 23rd – 26th July
A small specialist market selling fine foods from Italy and Sicily – ice creams, olive oil, biscuits, nougat, pastas and sauces, cheeses, salami and breads.  Try something different at the weekend.

Yorkshire Day – Saturday 1st August
Celebrate Yorkshire Day in Doncaster Market.  There will be Yorkshire cooking specialities on Goosehill, with stilt walking cricketers moving amongst the visitors and in the open market there will be staged entertainment with Doncaster’s Got Talent.  A day of local entertainers, singers, dancers, comedy and theatre.  It’s all free so come along and enjoy a family day out.
