25yrs on - Donbac is still lending to small businesses in South Yorkshire!!

2010 is a milestone for Doncaster’s own loan fund - celebrating over 20 years of lending to small businesses.

Established in 1985, long before Business Links and many of the other more recent business support agencies were thought of; Donbac provided much needed support to local business.

Whilst many organisations have been unable to continue in this market, Donbac continues to provide loan funding  and support to local businesses.

Chief Executive Angela Allison reports “In the last 2 years we have provided over £2.3 million of loans to over 250 businesses.  This year alone, we have supported local businesses with over 85 deals, creating or safeguarding nearly 300 JOBS in the area.” 

“We are constantly hearing in the press, that businesses are still finding it hard to access funds from mainstream banks.  Many clients are unable to provide the security required by the bank or they do not meet the bank lending criteria.  

In times where the changing political and economic landscape is affecting how small business access support and finance, it is comforting to know that Donbac is here to provide those services.”

Arthur Foreman, Donbac’s Loan Funds Manager, explained: “We are playing a vital role at Donbac by stepping in to provide the finance needed where Banks and mainstream funders cannot.”

“At a time when high street banks are being criticised for not using the government’s Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme, at Donbac we have used EFG for 75% of our larger loans, providing extra support and proving the scheme is available for clients”.

Donbac actively works with other local professional firms, banks and business support organisations to help start up and existing businesses.
