Deborah Rees FRSA is Director of Cast which she joined in March 2017. As CEO Deborah is responsible for the management and artistic direction of Doncaster’s £22m performance arts venue. Deborah has over 25 years’ management experience working in the arts in venues and companies across the country including 12 years in London. Prior to Cast, she ran The Roses in Tewkesbury for 11 years a performing arts venue and independent cinema, and was a founder member of Gloucestershire’s innovative arts partnership Create Gloucestershire which has become a blue print for collaborative working across the country. Deborah has sat on and chaired numerous arts boards.
She is an advocate for how the arts impacts on employment, health, regeneration, education and criminal justice. Deborah is an Arts Council of England quality assessor and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a graduate in English Language and Literature from the University of St Andrews. Deborah was born near Manchester and grew up in Buxton.
