What does this service provide for my business?
Provided through the British Chambers of Commerce, service provider, APMG is offering an exclusive £25 discount to Doncaster Chamber members wishing to seek Cyber Essentials (CE) certification.
The standard was developed in collaboration with industry partners, including the Information Security Forum (ISF), the Information Assurance for Small and Medium Enterprises Consortium (IASME) and the British Standards Institution (BSI), and is endorsed by Government. The technical controls focus on five essential mitigations within the context of the ‘10 Steps to Cyber Security.
Cyber-attacks occur in small to medium enterprises every day, according to the latest Government Security Breaches survey almost 75% of small organisations reported a security breach in the last year. Now Her Majesty's Government has mandated Cyber Essentials as a prerequisitie for all orgnaisatinos bidding on contracts through a Public Procurement Network (PPN).
Why become certified to the scheme?
By implementing Cyber Essentials, organisations will mitigate the following common types of cyber-attack:
- Password guessing
- Tricking a user into installation or execution of a malicious application
What exactly is involved in the scheme?
The scheme is based on your completion of a self-assessment or ‘questionnaire’.
The majority of cyber attacks would have been mitigated by full implementation of the technical controls under the following, selected categories:
- Boundary firewalls and Internet gateways
- Secure configuration
- User access control
- Malware protection
- Patch management
How do I access this service?
Each application is completed using APMG's on-line portal, by selecting your preferred Certification Body (CB) from the drop down list. All of these accredited CBs have been assessed by us to ensure that they meet the requirements set by the National Cyber Security Centre.
Once you are ready to apply, register to our secure assessment platform and select the certification body of your choice. Once your application has been submitted, it will be assessed by your chosen CB. This is usually followed up by an interview to ensure that the answers you are giving are true, and then your application needs to be signed off by a senior member of staff within your own organisation.
Within the assessment platform you can complete your assessment questionnaire, make a secure payment, and if you are successful, automatically receive your certificate. What can I save as a Chamber member?
You can redeem your discount when you reach the payment section on the platform. Simply enter your Chamber’s unique discount code on the payment page and the fee will be automatically discounted by £25.
