Doncaster Chamber Election of Board Members 2011

Each year Doncaster Chamber holds elections to the Board of Directors. The Chamber has an excellent reputation for the work it does both inside the Borough and beyond. It is therefore important that your Chamber continues to be led by business people with the experience, enthusiasm and vision needed to continue driving Doncaster’s regeneration and business support agenda.

Who is eligible to be a Director?

Candidates must be of sufficient seniority in their organisation.  Board Members are required to be senior directors, partners or principals of Member businesses and, in addition, some experience of working in diverse company boards is useful.

Your commitment as a Director

The only commitment we expect from Non-Executive Directors is time, support, and that your company remains in membership for the term of office.

- Elected Directors retire by rotation after a 3-year term of office.

- We have a monthly Board meeting that usually lasts for 2 hours, an occasional Chamber Executive Management Group meeting that lasts a similar time and a number of events during the year.

- In addition, each Director is also expected to sit on one of any Board sub-committees which support the Senior Management Team.  These meetings take place once a month and usually last about one hour.

- Candidates should not put themselves forward unless they will have the time to attend at least 75% of Board meetings, which generally take place on the last Thursday of each month at 4:00 pm.

- Further details of duties and responsibilities of a Director and a background to the Chamber can be obtained by contacting Sheila Fearn at sfearn@doncaster-chamber.co.uk
