The Dome is a recognised destination in Doncaster and working with The Chamber and Yorkshire South, we hoped to raise the profile of the emerging tourist economy through creating a new award category.

“DKE / LETS chose to sponsor the Environmental Award at the Doncaster Chamber Business Awards because as we ourselves promote the environmental benefits that the LETS technologies aim to provide South Yorkshire Businesses, it was felt appropriate to further emphasise the benefits of positive environmental responsibility for Doncaster business community.
In supporting the Environmental Award DKE / LETS identified that our chosen finalist would need to not only have a vision but that it should have the foresight to put its values into practice. By displaying an active role promoting sustainable development, through pollution prevention including waste reduction or recycling, the winner would be, wherever possible utilising alternative fuels, energy conservation, and resource management.

The Dome Leisure Trust Chief executive Gavin Baldwin said: "Environmentally we believe that each and every business can do their bit and it is our long term goal to cut annual wastage from 100 tonnes to 20 tonnes, which is ambitious but achievable if visitors to the Dome 'buy into' the scheme in the same way as the staff have done."
